My Mother's Story

The day Casey died, the world didn't stop. The sun still rose. Birds still sang. But my world collapsed. Casey was my grandfather. I never felt so alive. I remember their cooking like it was yesterday. Now I talk to Casey when I visit a bookstore. I know they can't hear me. But saying it out loud makes it feel real. Grief is love with nowhere to go.
