Letting Go of Myself

They say you never forget your first love. I was 36 when I fell for Rowan. We'd meet at a coffee shop after school. Rowan had gentle hands that made my heart skip. We were so young and stupid. Years later, I saw Rowan at a funeral. We smiled, hugged, promised to keep in touch. We never did. But that feeling? It's still there, tucked away in a corner of my heart.
