The Letter That Changed Everything

I was going to end it. I had the pills in my hand. But then I saw a letter on my nightstand — my little sister had slipped it under my door. 'I know you're sad,' she wrote in her eight-year-old handwriting. 'But you're my favorite person in the whole world. Please don't forget that.' I called my therapist instead. That was three years ago. I'm still here. I still struggle. But every time I want to give up, I remember that someone, somewhere, would be devastated to lose me. If you're reading this and thinking about giving up: please don't. Write a letter. Call someone. Stay.
