Some stories don't fit in a status update.

Untolden exists for the things people carry alone β€” the confession, the unsent letter, the regret that wakes you at 3am. No name, no profile, no audience to manage. Just the words.

Why anonymity works

When your name is attached to a story, you write for your reputation. When it isn't, you write for the truth. That single change is why the writing here reads differently from a blog, a journal, or a social feed β€” people stop performing and start telling.

Anonymity is not a loophole for harm. It is a permission structure for honesty. We remove identifying details, we don't publish contact information, and we take down content that targets a real, identifiable person.

What you can do here

Write a story β€” up to 12 themes, in 20 languages, with an optional pseudonym. Keep a Full Chapter β€” a longer life story in ten sections, from your truth to your legacy. Drop a secret on the Wall of Secrets when a whole story is too much. Read the Emotional Map to see what the world is feeling this week.

How it stays free

Reading and writing will always be free. A small number of writers upgrade to Full Chapter Pro for unlimited chapters, a print-ready PDF, and an ad-free page β€” that is what pays for the servers. We also take a limited number of sponsorships from organisations that genuinely help people, never from anything that preys on the people writing here.

What we won't do

We won't sell your email. We won't require a real name to write. We won't put ads inside the writing box, because a person mid-sentence is not an audience to interrupt. We won't hand over story content without a valid legal order.

Who runs this

Untolden is a small independent project run out of Kolkata, India. You can reach a human at hi@untolden.com β€” we answer within 24-48 hours. Read our privacy policy and terms.
