I Cheated on My Wife
It happened once. A conference in Chicago, too much whiskey, a woman who listened. I've carried this guilt for five years. My wife thinks we have a perfect marriage. We do, except for this one thing I can never take back. I've been a better husband since that night — more present, more grateful. But sometimes I wonder if I'm a good person who did a bad thing, or a bad person pretending. The shame comes in waves. I deserve every one.
